Not your average White guy
... and now for something a little different
Hello there! I'm not sure what cosmic chain of events or twists of fate lead you to my site but WELCOME! While I'm all for formalities, those who know me best know that I am at my best when the agitated personal barriers are laid to rest and people can be themselves. Everyone takes their tie off at the end of the day!
For those of you that already know me, I"m Clayton James, the one and only: Son to Richard Alan and Barbara Jay Pfingston and Grandson to Paul and Mildred Pfingston. My mother's family name is Ripley, of iris descent, and my father's name is German. You will find the definition of Pfingston a little obscure, in part because it was originally spelled "Pfingsten" but had been misspelled when my ancestors migrated to the new world, and also because it is not a common name at all. Ed Ward seems to put it in English for us on his blog.
Why do I title myself as "Clayton James"?? Well, for the past 9 years, I've worked in Sales and Marketing and I have come to understand Branding and marketability. I am also a musician, and I know that there is a lot in a name when it comes to music and entertainment, so then I decided to drop my last name. This doesn't mean I'm not proud of my heritage, upbringing or family name: it's simply a preference. (people tell me they like my title!).
I currently live in La Ciudad de Nuestra Reina de Los Angeles (or more precisely, "The Valley"), and have been in LA since April of 2007. I come from The Emerald City, otherwise known as Seattle, and this is the furthest away from my comfort zone I have ever lived. Most think that I moved here to be an aspiring actor or musician, but that was not my primary motivation. Although I do plan to continue writing and making music, I moved to LA for change and to prosper. Most of the people in my family, like my parents, have lived in the same 35 mile radius of the Puget Sound for their whole lives. While they might be fine with that, fearing I might end up the same way I decided to leave. My experiences since then have been a mixed bag.
Before leaving Seattle, I had a brief but educating experience as business owner for a coffee shop, "Bel Canto Espresso". I had passed up the opportunity to purchase a rental property to buy this business which was a great experience and has furthered my desire to own larger size businesses. Since then, however, the real estate market has changed dramatically and I now feel confident about where my investments will take me.
As for the 7 years prior to owning a business, I had worked for a few large Telecom companies gaining experience in Sales and Marketing knowledge as I went along. The sales field is not for everyone, but I am very glad I got into it because of how it has changed my social behaviors. While I don't mind being an employee, I have vision enough to want to own my own company and hope to follow in the foot steps of the prosperous people in my family. I only hope one day to give back to my family and community and I am seeking the means to do so.
This site is about me and my world, I say what I like and I express myself freely. I am a multi-faceted individual with strong points of view and I like to share my opinion. If you offended by any of the following you might want to hit your back button: Spanish speaking white people, anything to do with family guy, south park, Dave Chappelle, Team America and any references thereto, sexual innuendos, random acts of insanity, cut downs, cutoffs, money, debt, music and production, immigration, some hooker named Britney Spears and references to other artists, weather I've met or not may be mentioned throughout your stay as you read my babble.
Buenos Nachos,
Clayton James
